I've been consistently rereading Undercover Attraction ever since I finished it the first time. I might have reread it more than I did The Wedding Pact (sorry James but I still love you). Aiden has always been described as cold, ruthless, and the exact replica of his father Seamus. Despite this, I can't help but be intrigued about him, and I'm glad that we get to see things from his POV. He made a lot of difficult decisions as the head of the O'Malley family, and it's a bit sad to see him carrying the burden alone because he didn't have anyone else to trust.

I've never pictured how Aiden's other half would look and act like, but Charlotte Finch is just perfect for him. Charlie is smart and tough, and she takes no shit from Aiden, which I love. I adore seeing her with Keira; Charlie's a great influence on her. I also love how Charlie helped Aiden heal the breach between him and his siblings, especially with Carrigan.

Aiden and Charlie together are super hot. They have a lot of chemistry with each other; they didn't have to do much to convince other people that they're in love and planning to marry. I also love how their "fake" relationship lasted like 5 minutes because they couldn't keep their hands off each other. They're also so in tune with each other it's like they've known each other for ages. Aiden and Charlie fit together, and I can't imagine them with anyone else.

Overall, Undercover Attraction exceeded my expectations and more. I can't wait for February to be here so that I can read Dmitri and Keira's book; I'm so ready for Dmitri to fall on his knees.

Aiden stepped up to take his father's place in running the O'Malley's business and family. Left with the mess his father's manipulations had caused, Aiden decides on a plan to save his family, his sister Keira and extract revenge on his closely held targets.

In order to accomplish all of his goals....he is going to mix with the enemy, an ex cop. He needs her cooperation. It will be tricky as she has no desire to be anywhere near him if she can help it...But Aiden has the one lure to reel her in...The mutual hatred and wish to nail Dmitri Romanov will be the hook to cause Charlotte Finch, now known as Charlie March, to agree to make a deal with this devil.

Charlie had remade her life after it had been destroyed by one obvious enemy, Dmitri and another not so obvious, her brother cops. She was hung out to dry when she refused to be on the take...and in retaliation, she was thrown under the bus twice... publicly, losing the only career she every wanted and then physically when the dirty cops decided to exact their own punishment by doing their worst in an alley.

Charlie recovered from her injuries but mentally, she was scarred. Her father, the one influence, the one who she wished believed in her...turned his back believing his brothers in blue than his own daughter. As an FBI agent, her father only saw black and white...and Blue.

When Aiden approaches Charlie, she has been living as a poker hustler. She runs some of the most wanted games in town...she has reinvented herself in a way to bid her time until she can figure out a way to pay back all of those who destroyed her reputation.

Aiden and Charlie know of each other...and when Aiden pulls Charlie out of the bar she works...she is on guard in more ways then just her safety...there has been an undercurrent between them...and Aiden being close physically to Charlie causes all kinds of rumblings for the both of them.

Aiden gets right to the task at hand...He tells Charlie he wants her to assist him in taking Dmitri Romanov down...This catches Charlie's attention... but when he explains how it needs to be done, Charlie is ready to walk away...

Aiden explains the only way to distract Dmitri from figuring out Aiden is setting him up for a fall is for Aiden to be in love, seemingly distracted from business and engaged...To HER!

    What he wants is crazy...

It makes no sense, is ridiculous and seriously dangerous...

Yet...All Charlie can think about is taking down the one responsible for her losing her father's regard and getting even. With this clouding all of her judgement... along with this unwanted attraction to this mobster...Charlie agrees.

Aiden is also playing with fire by agreeing to another proposition with Dmitri... one he has no intention of keeping. All of these subterfuges cannot be shared with anyone except his partner in this... Charlie.

Both Aiden and Charlie have to play their parts perfectly; Aiden cannot reveal all of his plans to his brothers or even his sister...and Charlie must convince the O'Mally Clan this is real...easier said then done...

From the start, both Aiden and Charlie realize the want, the lust they have for each other is off the charts. It makes no real sense looking from the outside in... but these strange bedfellows start to feel for each other sincerely ... and it scares the hell out of both of them...

It goes without saying... But I am...is these two are smokin' hot and have no qualms in letting others know it... by public displays of affection, by loud coupling (good for the fake engagement), and slamming good yum, yum times....

Neither Aiden nor Charlie are prepared for the feelings they develop...and all of this is done with the backdrop of Aiden's scheming and planning...Some going as planned and then some turning out to be more complex then Aiden could have anticipated.

Robert's give both of these characters personal issues that run deep...the feeling of isolation and even abandonment are critical to Charlie's reasoning for all that she does...all her life she was an outsider, trying to prove to her father she deserved his love. All Aiden had known was his destiny...and his vicious and manipulative father made it very clear...Do things the O'Malley way or pay the price. Aiden's price was having to take over and wear his Mask, hiding all he ever felt...

Charlie allowed Aiden to drop the pretense and reveal himself to her...Aiden showed Charlie she was worth so much more than she thought... that a man and family could make her feel wanted and loved.

This book had more than just Aiden's story... it also had the ramp up of what was to come...There was more of Keira and Dmitri...and seriously... their story and book will be off the charts... I just know it...February 6, 2018 cannot come soon enough.

But I'm here to tell you, if you STILL haven't checked this series about a mob family yet, what are you even doing??? Anyways, I was quite eager to read Undercover Attraction. It features the head of the family, Aiden, and though he has done some shifty things to his siblings in the past in the name of protecting, I knew there was a lot more to him. And there definitely is! In Undercover Attraction, Aiden is trying to undermine everyone's favorite bastard, Dmitri, and he finds himself seeking the help of an ex-cop, Charlotte in his mission. Of course, what ensues is the stoic man winds up falling hopelessly in love with Charlie. I loved Aiden so much more than I thought I would. I don't know how Katee manages to write compelling characters. You can tell that Aiden was battling a lot with his conflicting emotions. He wants to protect his family, but he also wants to keep them happy, and often times those don't go hand in hand. Despite all the vitriol he faced from his siblings though, there was nothing but love on his side for them. Charlie was a great girl to balance him out. She too has her own baggage, but the girl was fierce af. The chemistry between the two simmers and slowly builds up over the course of the book. Seriously, Katee knows how to write good romance. I loved watching the two fall for each other - I had all the butterflies in my tummy! I've also got to mention all the scenes featuring Dmitri and Keira and OMG, I'm so pumped for the last book, The Bastard's Bargain. I'm ready to be inside Dmitri's head. So yes, I hope you give this series a try if you haven't read it yet ... otherwise we can't be pals!

He’s so in charge and in control, and exudes such a strong presence. Him teaming up with Charlie to be his pretend fiancé was fun and eye opening all at once and I loved seeing that control in him slip thanks to her. Charlie was seriously awesome. I love a strong heroine and she's a tough one. I liked that she was so smart and stood up to Aidan when she needed too. Every layer that peeled back as they fell for each other in the midst of all the drama and tension had me hooked.

This is told from multiple POVs and I really like all the different perspectives, I felt like it made the story richer. The writing is really good with excellent details. I thought the pace was great. I love all the different crime families involved, there's strain between all of them and this odd respect that I find fascinating. It's like Dynasty but with the mob !

There is drama, violence, and passion. It's a tangled web of awesome! All these things kept the story moving along and had me excited for more. There was also some lightness thanks to some fun moments between Charlie and Aidan that I appreciated. I loved seeing all the O’Malley siblings and how the different situations between them are evolving. They're such a dysfunctional family and it's crazy but it all works in a weird way. So many layers and so much depth, I loved it all! I also loved ever single bit that had to do with Dmitri Romanov. I've been all about the bad Russian mobster since he was introduced so I am thrilled that his story is next with Kierra.

This was an awesome addition to the series and I truly enjoyed seeing the softer side to Aidan and I think Charlie is his perfect match.

It's intense and action packed but also full of heat and love. Solid from beginning to end. Awesome read!

Loving the O'Malley family means having to make sacrifices for them and also having to make hard decisions in regards to them. Which is what leads him to Charlie with a proposal of the fake kind.

Adrian and Charlie were both very well developed characters and I loved getting to see how they took what they were fighting for and turned it into a connection between one another. Getting to see them together, the ex-cop and the mafia leader, was intriguing and also really romantic. I liked that it was their differences that lead them to one another.

It's really interesting to see how this series has evolved since the first one,

, and how different these characters feel now. I don't mean that in a bad way, but just that I can tell all of these characters have grown since they had their own book and I really like that this series has shown that so well.

Life certainly wasn't going to be easy for them, but I have no doubt these two had what it takes to make it work. Unconditional love.

In Undercover Attraction we get Aiden O’ Malley and Charlie Moreaux. Aiden propositions Charlie to be his fake fiancé to help him take down Dmitri Romanov, a russian crime lord who wants Aiden’s sister, Kiera.

Aiden and Charlie both have reasons for wanting to take down Dmitri, but find that they may have to work with him against another worse threat. Alethea and Mae Eldridge are sadist and have no honor. When Mae threatens Charlie, Kiera and Carrigan, they will soon learn they have gone too far.

I find another series I wish I had known about when book 1 came out. I love the brilliant way Katee Robert has intertwined all these characters within this series. So many characters with intriguing stories of their own.

Aiden being the head of one of the Irish organized crime families paired with Charlie, who is a former cop was an interesting pairing. Not only was the plot of the story exciting, so was the dynamics of each and every player in this series.

I’m not sure if I had read the previous books first if I would feel differently about Dmitri but I actually really liked him in this book. He’s ruthless, but Kiera is his weakness. I think their book is going to be incredible. I’m so glad I read this book! ARC provided by NetGalley.

Book Five of the O'Malleys series

    Publisher: Forever Romance

    Rating: 4 stars

Source: ARC sent by the publisher

    Summary (from Goodreads):

Scandal. Wealth. Power. Seduction. Welcome to the world of the O'Malleys.

Ex-cop Charlotte Finch used to think there was a clear line between right and wrong. Then her fellow officers betrayed her, and the world is no longer so black and white. Especially when it's Aiden O'Malley, one of the most dangerous men in Boston, who offers her a chance for justice. The only catch: she'll have to pretend to be his fiancée for his plan to work.

Aiden can't afford to let anyone see the man behind the mask. To run the O'Malley empire, he has to be cool and controlled at all times. But the moment he meets Charlie, they're playing with fire. Her slightest touch is enough to send him over the edge. At first their "engagement" was a way to eliminate his enemies. Now he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe-- even if he has to destroy his own family to do it.

    What I Liked:

I've read the previous four books in this series, and I've always been curious about Aiden from the start. Who is this cold, hardened man? Is he truly so cold? We discover his limits in Undercover Attraction, the continuation to the series, featuring Aiden and Charlie. I enjoyed this book on its own and I loved it as a sequel to the previous books. Katee Robert has done an excellent job in continuing the series so far, and I'm desperate for The Bastard's Bargain.

In this book, Aiden is tightening his reign as the O'Malley head and simultaneously struggling to hold ground against Dmitri Romanov - and a new family in play, the Eldridges. He needs to keep his friends close and his enemies closer, and that's where Charlotte Finch - now Charlie Moreaux - comes in. The plan: they'll pretend they're engaged, to distract Aiden's enemies. Then, he'll eliminate them. But he doesn't plan on falling for Charlie - or vice versa. Now both Aiden and Charlie have so much more to lose, and with players in this dangerous game, they will stand to lose it all.

I love the fake engagement trope! Especially when it involves two people who clearly do not want to be engaged. Fake engagements are great because the main couple is locked in and must interact - and there are rarely love triangles. (I hate love triangles.)

Aiden has always been somewhat of an enigma, throughout this series. He seems cold and closed-off, like Seamus O'Malley 2.0. But the truth is, he isn't like his father. He puts his family first, and does everything for the good of his family. Sadly, this costs Aiden individual relationships with his siblings, which is heartbreaking to watch. Aiden is isolated within his family, but he is a fair and hardened leader with an iron will. He emanates power and intensity, which I rather liked. He isn't a cold-hearted killer like he has everyone believe him to be, but he is dangerous.

Charlie is a tough woman who knows how to take care of herself. She used to be a cop, and now she is lying low after some rocky events in her past. She agrees to help Aiden and play his fiancee, but she never expects to actually fall for Aiden, or like his family (especially Keira). Charlie has a strong will but she isn't aggressive and "loud" in terms of her personality and will. She is smart and headstrong, and she knows her mind.

I found Aiden and Charlie to be a good match. Aiden is intense and alpha-y, and Charlie is assertive and kind. She isn't the fawning, sweet type, but she is very considerate and cognizant of Aiden's moods. I love how quickly she starts to read him, and he her. They fill each other's spaces and it becomes clear that they needed each other.

It doesn't hurt that they have great chemistry, from the start. Aiden is definitely more on the dominant side and Charlie likes it. There is a little bit of tug-of-war between these two, and that always results in some pretty steamy scenes. Of course, Robert is so good at writing creative steamy scenes, no matter how many books she has written!

The plot thickens, in terms of the O'Malley war with literally everyone else! But one neat thing is that the O'Malleys, Sheridans, Hallorans, and Romanovs are all a significant part of this book. It isn't just about Aiden, and Charlie. All of the O'Malley siblings (except Sloan) come out to play. With that new family coming in as a threat, and no one really knowing where Dmitri Romanov stands, it's all man for himself, except when there are fake alliances. Things really shake down to the sixth book!

I wll say that the ending of this book is a HEA for Aiden and Charlie. The book ends very well in that regard. In terms of the families/mobs/war/marriages/etc.? This series is not over yet. I love that each book can be read as a standalone BUT there is a lot that ties the series together, including the ongoing war between families. But everything is going to explode in book six and I can't wait!

    What I Did Not Like:

There wasn't anything that I really disliked, per se, but I wouldn't rank this book among my favorites of all time (which is what I save the five-star ratings for). I liked this book a lot but looking at the series as a whole, it wouldn't be among my favorites. Books two, three, and five are somewhat forgettable for me, unfortunately. But I loved books one and four, and likely six!

    Would I Recommend It:

If you've read any of the books in the series, definitely keep going! Or stop from the beginning. This dark romantic crime series is so, so good. Super hot, very intriguing, and always impressive. I don't usually read a ton of romance novels dealing with crime and mob families and such, but I think Robert is doing a great job with the series so far!

    Rating:

4 stars. I enjoyed this book! It was great to get inside Aiden's head (he's actually human!). I am so so so so so excited about Dmitri and Keira's book! I sometimes love, sometimes hate Keira, and I sometimes love, sometimes hate Dmitri, so it's perfect. The book could not come soon enough!

To be fair the cover of this book is also yummy. One of the reasons I could get the series in paperback would be the covers. The inside is also a good reason to buy the books. Aiden's story doesn't disappoint! I loved it but I am not giving it 5 stars because I found myself more interested in Keira and Dmitri who also tell some parts of the story. They took the focus off the main couple. Aiden is preparing to take down his enemies and I believe that he and Dmitri will take down everyone in the next book. I have a feeling that this book is here to prepare us for the events of the last book in the series. I would love to see Seamus dead or at least eliminated as a threat to his children. I also want to see all the O'Malley's bonding again and admitting that they love each other. So far they have been torn apart and now I hope to see them mend their relationships with each other.

I liked the main couple. They have a slow romance which was a pleasant surprise. They didn't just jump straight into bed with each other and they took some time to get to know each other. I find the match between Aiden and Charlotte to be one of the best in the series. For me, Charlotte is exactly the woman Aiden needs as the head of the O'Malleys. She is strong and she has everything I would have asked for her as a heroine. Aiden has his plan and she is more useful than I could have imagined. For someone who was on the "right" side of the law, she knows how to handle herself. Plus he needs someone to help him when that plan fails in some way.

I was very satisfied with the book. I like Katee Robert's writing and the book had a good pace. Not too fast not too slow (ok slow on the Dmitri/Keira thing). I don't have a single problem with the book other than the one I said in the beginning. I would definitely recommend both the book and the series. You will understand everything that's happening better if you read the previous books and I don't see a reason why you shouldn't give this series a chance.
